SUMMARY:Snapdragon Theater Camp!
DESCRIPTION: \nThe Snapdragon Children’s Theater Camp at WFC is open to children ages 5-11 (exceptions for slightly younger or older siblings — or older kids interested in supporting camp activities). The camp will be run by Marion & Richard Posner who bring many years of experience in children’s theater camps in Tamworth and elsewhere in the area\, with support from WFC staff. \nIn its second summer\, the play will tell a story set in Old Venice that explores themes of cooperation versus competition. Mask-making and crafts projects to support other props will run throughout the same week. The camp will be running from 10am-12noon Monday-Friday\, 28 July – 1 August 2025. Children may bring a snack with them for a mid-morning break. The final performances of the play will take place at 4pm on Friday\, August 1\, and will be open to participants’ parents\, family and friends\, as well as WFC guests\, staff and volunteers.\n\n\n\n\nThe camp costs $75 per child for the week. Advance registration here required!\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Changing Hearts and Minds with Deep Canvassing (Kristen Brock-Petroshius\, Stony Brook University)
DESCRIPTION:In this interactive workshop\, learn how deep canvassing works and see video of an actual conversation. You will practice some of the core skills involved in the practice: asking curious questions\, listening without judgment\, sharing vulnerable stories\, addressing concerns\, and making your case. The case study around which the workshop builds comes from deep canvassing in support of organizing in LA around reinvesting funds from the Sheriff’s budget into community resources and alternatives to incarceration.\n\nPresenter Kristen Brock-Petroshius is an Assistant Professor of Social Welfare at Stony Brook University. She studies attitude change to build support for racial\, economic\, and social justice policies. She is particularly interested in how community organizing tactics and message frames—including methods that explicitly discuss systemic racism—can shift dominant political attitudes. She has an interdisciplinary background with training in the Race\, Ethnicity\, and Politics and Political Psychology subfields of Political Science.\n
