DESCRIPTION:Making Dorodango: finding a perfection through play\, process and practice (with Missy McCormick)\n\n“[A]n artifact of such utter simplicity and perfection that it seems it must be either the first object or the last…”— William Gibson\n\nHikaru Dorodango\, or mud dumpling\, are made of a ball of mud and plant fiber\, shaped in the hand and refined into a perfect lustrous sphere through drying and polishing by hand.  The experience of making Dorodango spans from messy and fun at the beginning\, creative and experimental in the middle while adding colored clays and drying between working time\, and very meditative\, centering\, and grounding at the end while refining it into a perfect sphere.\n\nThis is a fire free clay workshop\, and will combine various refined dried clays with clay\, dried plant fibers\, and water foraged from WFC’s property. The workshop will span 5 days and include some work outside on picnic tables and some on the Lodge porch. Participants will meet each morning 10am-12pm\, and optionally 4pm-6pm to continue work.\n\n“The process is simple\, but the result makes it seem like alchemy.”\n\n\n

SUMMARY:An Evening of Storytelling with Andy Davis
DESCRIPTION:Storyteller Andy Davis is pausing at home and visiting WFC in the middle of his third summer of bicycle storytelling\, pedaling 900 miles to perform in 20 libraries\, cultural centers\, house concerts\, and summer camps from Provincetown to Burlington. In his panniers he carries a whimsical\, farraginous blend of tales including the personal\, political\, and folkloric. \nAndy Davis got his start as a storyteller telling comic tales by candlelight in Mexican refugee camps 30 years ago. He has since broadened and refined his craft and has entertained audiences from Bamako to Seattle with his signature blend of infectious humor\, sly wisdom\, and a cheerfully subversive spirit.
