Second Pandemic (Stay At) Home Companion-Virtual Event
13 June , 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
With the approach of Juneteenth, the anniversary of the storied day in June, 1865 when the Emancipation Proclamation was read aloud to enslaved African Americans in Texas, our next on-line event will feature performers who bring to life the history of African American oppression and resistance.
Stars of the Show:
Valerie Stephens will share a story and a song. Valerie’s repertoire for all ages ranges from interactive stories, songs and games from West Africa, the Americas and the Caribbean. Comedy and drama in its original form with lessons about history, strength, knowing thyself and just plain fun for all to enjoy and share.
Arnold Farr is a favorite WFC presenter. He’s also a talented singer/songwriter and guitar player. His day job is as Professor of Philosophy at the University of Kentucky, with emphases of philosophy of race and liberation, among other areas. This podcast episode shares his philosophy on Colin Kaepernick’s kneeling and civil protest-a great way to whet your appetite for his performance!
