Our Summer 2025 program is now ended, but we continue to organize in-person and virtual events for our local and extended community, and to promote other local events of interest. We welcome program offers and ideas for both the off-season and looking ahead to Summer 2026: email programs@worldfellowship.org!

Love Can Conquer Suffering: Peace Advocates Working through Grassroots Activism
25 July , 2023 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Kevin Martin is president of national Peace Action and Peace Action Education Fund. Peace activists take seriously Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s admonition to address the Giant Triplets of racism, militarism and economic exploitation, as they are inextricably linked. It could be argued that of the three, militarism is the most easily accepted and least challenged by broader US society. When looking at the gargantuan Pentagon budget (while social and environmental programs go begging for sufficient investment), $2 trillion upgrade of the US nuclear weapons complex, leading the world in weapons transfers, nearly 1000 military bases around the world, future plans for intractable conflict with Russia and China, it’s hard to see paths to more peaceful US military and foreign policies. And yet, peace activists engage in struggle and strive to build coalitions and alliances with those working on domestic justice issues. Please join us to discuss policies and organizing strategies to build a more peaceful and just world.
