New Hampshire: The Last State to Adopt MLK Day (Arnie Alpert)
20 July @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Arnie Alpert tells the story of the 20-year campaign to get New Hampshire to adopt a state holiday named for the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. It’s a tale of persistence, grassroots activism, community education, inside/outside organizing, and personal transformation. As the American Friends Service Committee’s NH director from 1981 to 2020, Arnie served as the “communications coordinator” for the informal coalition which led the holiday campaign.
