Virtual! Bev Grant Archival Photography 1968-1972
2 August , 2021 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Bev Grant who many WFC guests know for her social justice music performances and her choral workshops every summer at World Fellowship, was a photo journalist and filmmaker in the late 60s working with NY Newsreel and Liberation News Service. Her black and white photos lay dormant in negative form for about 50 years before she started digitizing them and creating some buzz about their content. Her photos have appeared in the NY Times, New York Magazine, the New Yorker, the Washington Post and numerous books and films and are part of the Getty Images stock photo collection. Her work covers the early Women’s Movement, the Black Panther Party, the Young Lords Party, and a wide assortment of movement activity from that period. She has her own book coming out at the end of September, published by OSMOS, who have also organized exhibits of her work. The American Labor Museum will launch an exhibit of her work in May 2022. Bev recently put together a film about her work and experience as a movement photographer. She will be showing a rough cut and will be open to discussion afterward. .
