Summer Social Justice Institute
Preparing to spend your life and career dedicated to social justice? Deeply worried about the state of the world but not sure where to start? Whatever your starting point, this is the place for you. From July-August 2025, you can spend your summer learning and discussing with other activists and a diverse team of presenters and trainers in a beautiful community that has nurtured activists for generations.
Together we will study social movements and learn from the lifepaths of organizers/activists who have tackled issues from housing rights/mass forced evictions to indigenous peoples’ rights, from racial justice and anti-apartheid to anti-globalization and open border movements. Each week will take up new themes and come back to common lessons and strategies. Between sessions, you will have time to reflect, be in community, and be outside with hiking and swimming right at your doorstep.
For the Summer Social Justice Institute 2025, we are opening the opportunity to activists ages 18-40 — but if you are inspired and outside this age range, apply, explain your motivation, and we may make exceptions. Participation is free. Room and board at World Fellowship is provided throughout your stay in exchange for 25 hours of community service per week, with activities ranging from gardening, housekeeping, kitchen, childcare, and organizing arts/creative expression/recreation for the broader WFC community.
The calendar with weekly themes for the Summer Social Justice Institute 2025 will be published in January 2025. To apply, please send a letter of motivation and a resume/CV (if you’ve got one — if not, no worries, just put everything in the motivation letter!) to programs@worldfellowship.org. No educational prerequisites. Just motivation, an open mind, and eagerness to learn and do. Applications accepted on a rolling basis and interviews will be scheduled via Zoom. If you require a U.S. visa to attend, we encourage you to apply as soon as possible to allow time for visa processing. Travel stipends may be available for participants, provided strictly on basis of need.
